Do I need a locomotive cradle?
A locomotive cradle is a specially shaped sponge block designed to gently but firmly hold a model railway locomotive upside down and in place while servicing.
Cradles typically come supplied with additional sponge inserts to alter their size and shape, therefore, making them suitable for N gauge rolling stock as well as OO.
Whether or not the cradle is just simply nice to have, or an absolute must-have is down to individual modellers and the kind of activities they undertake. But for someone who services and repairs models a lot, the cradle's cheap price and simplicity make it a definite must, especially considering how well it works.
