Is there a quick way to clean model train wheels?
Cleaning the wheels on your rolling stock is an incredibly important job that helps to keep your models running smoothly and reliably, but it's also a laborious task and one that many would like to see take as little time as possible.
There are many different methods for cleaning wheels and even more opinions on which ways are either best or should be avoided. That aside, there are three approaches to choose from, an abrasive method such as using fibre pens or track rubbers, the chemical method such as Track Magic or isopropyl alcohol and the mechanical/automated method using a purpose-made device.
Whether or not any of these methods should or shouldn't be used is a conversation for individual modellers, and will likely be the result of their personal experience, however, when it comes to speed and convenience, the official advice is - for a quick, easy and hassle-free way to clean your wheels, use a wheel cleaning device such as Woodland Scenics' powered Roto Wheel Cleaner.
