What paint do I use with Hydrocal?

Hydrocal can be easily painted using acrylic paints.

Hydrocal is a plaster-like substance many modellers use for moulding scenic items such as bricks, stones and rocks. It is a lot lighter than plaster of Paris and does not crack.

Once set, Hydrocal can be treated with a wash to accentuate details such as mortar lines or rock crevices. Further coats of paint can be applied in varying thicknesses to build up a desired effect.

Hydrocal is waterproof once completely cured, so using water-based acrylic paint will not cause a problem.
