What is a rerailer?
A rerailer is one of those cheap plastic gadgets that doesn't shout about its existence, doesn't get talked about much, and is never on anyone's must-have list, but, once you have had one, you'll wonder how you ever managed without!
A rerailer pretty much does what it says on the packet, it re-rails rolling stock. They come in OO gauge and N gauge and consist of nothing more than a cleverly moulded piece of plastic in a ramp shape with wheel guides. The ramp slots neatly onto the track and rolling stock whether it be locos, coaches or trucks can be slid down the ramp and onto the rails, they are even effective at railing steam locomotives with complicated pony truck assemblies.
The only limitation of a rerailer is that it must be used on a straight section of track if it is to perform reliably, other than that, rerailers are incredibly useful tools and can be found in many modern starter packs or obtained separately at most good model shops.
