Will my model aircraft kit fly?
From the perspective of someone choosing a model aircraft for the first time, there can sometimes be some confusion surrounding the flying and non-flying types of model available. This could result in a prised model being happily lobbed out of an upper floor window (this has actually happened, and although some limited flight was achieved, the landing didn't go too well).
Non-flying types are scale models intended for static display and are usually made from white metal or moulded plastic and definitely are not intended to take to the skies. Flying models can be as simple as toy gliders made from paper, card, balsa or foam polystyrene. At the other end of the scale there's a wide range of powered models, these have motors or engines and are made from a whole range of materials.
Models intended to achieve flight, whether it be powered or the gliding type, will always state the fact on the packaging, but if in any doubt whatsoever, it's always best to ask your retailer.
