A spray booth is a very useful tool for any regular airbrush user. An airbrush will use air pressure to atomise paint into small droplets which are then sprayed onto the subject model. Not all of this spray will go on the subject model and any excess spray is referred to as 'Overspray'. Some of this overspray will remain in the air and as such could be inhaled by the modeller which could lead to breathing difficulties. Wearing some form of face mask will help provide the first layer of protection but will do nothing to remove the overspray.
A spray booth is a purpose-built workstation designed for airbrush operators. It combines an illuminated work surface with an extractor fan with appropriate filters. This filter and fan combination helps remove potentially harmful overspray allowing the modeller to concentrate on the task at hand. When used in combination with a suitable facemask the airbrush modeller is afforded maximum protection when using a spray booth.
