Does hardboard make a good model railway baseboard?
Generally, hardboard does not make a great baseboard because it can warp unpredictably and will not take track pins easily when laying track.
Although there has no doubt been at least some modellers who have been successful using hardboard for their baseboard, it is a difficult material to work with, a better solution would be to use ply or chipboard instead.
If you have some spare hardboard you was hoping to utilise, why not use it to create a backing to your layout to fix a backscene to, for this purposes, hardboard is ideal.
