What are ELC couplings?
ELC couplings (also known as Elsie couplings) are the standard couplings found on N gauge rolling stock, ELC stands for Easy Light and Close.
ELC couplings are described as giving outstanding reliability, they couple easily when two vehicles are brought together, and uncoupling is as simple as lifting the model in question vertically to remove it from a consist which is very useful in tight spaces such as sidings and fiddle yards.
Automated uncoupling can be achieved magnetically using 'Coupler Lift Arms' attached to your ELCs and an 'Electromagnetic Uncoupler System' to operate them.
ELC couplings are favoured by modellers and manufacturers alike because they are fairly discreet and offer acceptable spacing between coupled models, but most importantly, they like them because they work!
