Can you get plug and play colour signals for DCC?
Wiring colour light signals to a DCC layout can be a little daunting when doing it for the first time. That's because LED lights are not compatible with the AC power supply used on DCC layouts, and an external power source is usually required to get the job done. But is there a plug-and-play version with components already installed that takes care of the headache for you?
Fortunately, the answer is yes there is. Train-Tech produces colour light signals that are specifically designed to work with DCC, without the need for extra components or a separate power supply.
The lights are branded as 'One Touch' colour light signals with both home and distant variations available. The lights come with two power clips that attach directly to the track's rails and the built-in decoder and transformer facilitate the lights being operated directly from the track circuit of a DCC layout. The only proviso is that the controller used is capable of operating accessories through its keypad.
