What size nozzle should I use on my airbrush?
There are several nozzle sizes available for airbrushes ranging from 0.1mm to 5mm. For many modellers, a medium nozzle measuring around 3.5mm will be sufficient for most modelling requirements.
Nozzles of this size can create fine lines as thin as 0.3mm or cover an area of up to 5mm depending on how far away from an object it is held. Smaller nozzles are ideal for creating details and thin lines whilst larger nozzles are usually opted for when painting large expanses.
It should be noted that smaller nozzles will struggle to cope with thicker paints. Using paint specially designed for an airbrush will go a long way towards ensuring you maintain trouble-free spraying, but, if you are mixing your own paints, they should be thinned to the consistency of single cream to avoid any problems.
