Creating realistic cliff faces can be both simple and rewarding. Here's a straightforward guide to help you achieve impressive results:

1. Choose Your Materials

• Styrofoam or Expanded Polystyrene: Lightweight and easy to carve, ideal for larger cliffs.
• Plaster or Modelling Compound: Great for adding texture and realism.
• Ready-made Rock Moulds: Quick and effective for consistent results, especially for smaller layouts.

2. Building the Structure

• Base Framework: Start with a sturdy base of styrofoam or crumpled newspaper covered with masking tape. Shape the foam into rough cliff contours using a craft knife or hot wire cutter.
• Apply a Surface Layer: Cover the structure with plaster, papier-mâché or a modelling compound for a solid, textured surface.

3. Carving and Texturing

• While the plaster or compound is still soft, carve rock strata and cracks using a palette knife, small chisel or even a screwdriver. Mimic natural formations by keeping patterns irregular.
