Unless you are running clockwork or live-steam trains on your layout, electricity plays a major part in keeping the trains running. You may also have accessories like signals or lights that run on electricity, including operation of your points. This point motor from Peco mounts under the baseboard and has an extended operating pin that that passes through an elongated hole in the baseboard and fits into the hole in the tie-bar of the point. It requires a pulse of electricity to operate and this can easily be provided via a Peco PL-26 passing contact switch. There is also PL-10WE which identical to the PL10E but requires less current.
