More info

If you are looking for N gauge goods wagons, and don’t wishto construct your own, then are plenty of ready-to-run modelsavailable such as this one from the Peco ‘Quality Line’ range. This is a 15ft wheelbase bolster wagon in N.E. brown livery. The wagon depicted here has 2 bolsters. A bolster is a block oftimber that is laid across the wagon and supports the load. Abolster usually had a vertical post at each end in order to restrainthe load from moving sideways. On wagons with a single bolster, thebolster would be able to swivel, so that 2 or more such wagons couldbe used together to transport a longer load, for example, logs.Finish off by including a load of pipes (code: 10N21) or logs. If youwant to build it yourself to create a different variant orsave some money, this is also available in unpainted kit formas KNR-4.

Railway companies all had a stock of their own vehicles for carrying goods and merchandise around their network, and also onto other companies' routes as and when required.

These were integrated into British Railways at Nationalisation; some of them to be once more re liveried under sectorisation as the network was prepared to be returned to private ownership.

All Peco wagons feature free running wheels in pin point axles.

The ELC coupling, whilst compatible with the standard N gauge couplings, keeps a realistic distance between the vehicles and enables the PL-25 electro magnetic decoupler to be used for remote uncoupling.
