Bachmann Branchline 31-336 Class 04 Shunter D2334 in BR Blue Livery with Wasp Stripes. Split Chassis model
The British Rail Class 04s were a fleet of diesel-mechanical shunting locomotives built between 1952 and 1962 to be used for shunting duties across the BR network. The class formed the basis for the later built Class 03 and were developed directly from earlier Andrew Barclay and Drewry/ Vulcan Foundry locomotive designs from the early 1940s. The class was distributed throughout the British Railways system, but the significant decline in the traffic for which they were designed resulted in a large surplus of shunting engines on the network. With this reduction in the need for shunters it was decided to standardise on the Class 03 as a light diesel-mechanical shunter and the Class 08 and 09 as larger, diesel-electric shunters, leading to the withdrawal of the class 04 engines.
This engine is in excellent condition throughout and looks as new. It has been fully tested and runs perfectly
