More info

The Austin K2 Ambulance was produced between 1939 and 1945 at the car manufacturer’s works in Longbridge, essentially as a military ambulance and when over 13,000 were built for use by Allied Forces including the US Army throughout World War II. After the war ended, some passed into civilian use while others continued to be used in a peace time military role.

Our model is as deployed by RAF Transport Command in 1951. The Command was responsible for all transport aircraft of the RAF. Our vehicle is decorated in the RAF blue grey colour scheme with black front mudguards. The interior is also blue grey with black seats and the military style rolled canvas doors are also blue grey. The ambulance markings feature as a red cross on a white circle on the roof, both sides of the vehicle, the rear doors and also above the front split windscreen. The military registration plate is 00 AA 78 printed on the back and front of the ambulance while the yellow and black bridge plate on the front wing carries the number 4 with the RAF roundel above.
