The British Rail Class 33 is a series of diesel-electric Bo-Bo locomotives built by BRCW between 1960 and 1962 for the Southern Region of British Railways. A total of 98 Class 33 locomotives, numbered D6500 to D6597, were manufactured. Due to the Crompton Parkinson electrical equipment fitted to them, the series was known as the "Cromptons". They shared many similarities with their less powerful sister locomotives, the Class 26 and Class 27. 26 Class 33 locomotives survive today.
Dapol has modeled both the 33/0 and the 33/1. These models include the following features:
- Detailed construction with etched grilles and separately mounted handrails
- RP25.72 darkened wheels with needle bearings
- 5-pole super creeper motor with enormous tractive force and incredibly low running speed
- All-wheel drive and pickup
- Directional lighting (with switch to turn off the rear lights while driving)
- DCC-enabled and equipped options available
- Accessory package with spare parts and separately attachable additional parts.
