8 Pin Decoder Socket with Harness x 1

If you are into kit-building or even scratch-building locomotives and you power your layout with DCC, then you will need a decoder in the locomotive in order to run it. If so, you may find this decoder socket from Bachmann useful. It will permit you to install a decoder that has an 8-pin plug attached. Thus, you can easily remove the decoder if necessary, something that is not easily achieved if the decoder is directly wired (referred to as ‘hard-wired’) into the locomotive. The attached wires are coloured in accordance with the NEM standards for this type of interface, which is defined as NEM652. The colours are as follows: Red – track right, Black – track left, Orange – motor right, Grey – motor left, Blue – common positive, White – front light negative, Yellow – rear light negative, Green - function out 1 negative.
