When coal fuelled Britain’s railways coaling facilities were a necessity at every locomotive facility whether big or small. At larger sheds and in central locations Coaling Towers such as this were built to provide quick and efficient fuelling of the many locomotives that would be serviced each day.
Add the Scenecraft Coaling Tower to your N scale shed scene and enjoy recreating the arrival and departure of coal wagons to an adjacent siding – which would be hoisted to the top of the tower to fill the hopper with coal – and the coming and going of steam locomotives to be fuelled for their next duties.
