Note too, the tiny dark brown spade – an essential tool in the desert. The tank was part of two Army Tank Brigades despatched to Tunisia to support the First Army there. One of these brigades was the 142 (Suffolk) Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps and they arrived just as one of the major battles for Kasserine Pass was taking place. Throughout 1943 they were heavily involved against Rommel’s forces.
