6 Pin Decoder Socket with 8 Pin Plug x 3

If you power your layout with DCC, then you will need a decoder in each locomotive in order to run it. These days, ready-to-run locomotives have a variety of DCC sockets for the decoders to plug into. If your locomotive has an 8-pin socket (known as an NME652 socket) but you have a decoder with a 6-pin plug, you may find this converter from Bachmann useful. It will permit you to install a decoder that has a 6-pin plug attached into a model that has an 8-pin socket. Simply plug this extension harness into the locomotive and then plug your decoder into the other end. Bear in mind that 6-pin decoders are not usually as powerful as 8-pin variants, so you will need to check that it will handle the power requirements of the target locomotive. You may also need to check that there is sufficient room for the decoders and the additional wires that result from using this extension cable.
